Most herbs grow pretty well, under no special conditions. One of my favorite is rosemary. Rosemary is a perennial that grows like an evergreen shrub. It has needle leaves like a pine tree. These little “needles” are the actual herb.

Rosemary plant care is pretty simple. They require very little care and can be grown outdoors so long as the temperatures in the winter do not drop lower than around 10 degrees F. Otherwise they need to be planted in planters indoors, and in planters by patio doors where they can get plenty of light and warmth from the sunshine.

Tips For Watering Rosemary Plants

When it comes to the care of an herb garden containing rosemary, you have to water a rosemary plant. You have to water a rosemary plant quite often because they are very sensitive to drought conditions. This means if it grows outdoors, be sure to handle your plant watering according to weather conditions. During drought conditions, make sure you are watering rosemary regularly.

When watering rosemary, the soil in the garden or the pot it is planted in should have good drainage because rosemary is also somewhat sensitive to overwatering. Be sure there is plenty of drainage and adequate moisture offered to the plant when it is not getting moisture naturally.

These plants will grow upright about five to six feet when planted in outdoor gardens. Indoors, they might reach two to five feet instead. They are quite fragrant, somewhat piney in smell. The better you water a rosemary plant, the larger they will grow.

Rosemary plant care is not much different from other herbs such as thyme and mint. Your herbs all require plenty of water and sunshine to flourish and rosemary is no exception. If you have your rosemary planted in an herb garden, just give it the same care you would all your other herbs. They are truly quite versatile and useful to have around.

Rosemary is wonderful in soups and stews, and adds fragrance and spice to things like breads and flavored butters. You can make a country herb mixture with rosemary, thyme and oregano for your sauces. There are so many different things you can do with a rosemary plant that watering rosemary and your other herbs probably seems like a small duty to have in order to reap the benefits the plant and other herbs have to offer.
