The abundance of both sunshine and rainfall makes for a long growing season in the southern state of Alabama. Homeowners there have plenty to work with when it comes to growing a beautiful, lush lawn. However, keeping up with regular yard maintenance can be difficult for busy Alabamans, so many turn to professional lawn care companies for regular tasks like fertilization and weed control.
Located in Trussville, AL, Mighty Green Lawn Care has served the greater Birmingham area for 35 years, and it recently expanded into Montgomery as well. This locally owned and operated lawn care company also provides tree and shrub care and pest control to its residential customers. We’ll take a look at this company’s offerings to see how it compares to the national competition.
Unfortunately, if you live outside the Birmingham or Montgomery areas, Mighty Green Lawn Care’s services are unavailable. For a nationwide lawn care provider, we recommend TruGreen, a trusted name with locations in every state but Alaska and Hawaii.

Mighty Green Lawn Care Plans
Mighty Green Lawn Care’s offerings include a lawn care plan, a tree and shrub care plan, and a variety of additional lawn and landscaping services.
Lawn Care Plan
Mighty Green Lawn Care offers a single lawn care plan to its customers, which includes eight lawn care visits a year. However, if you notice any problems between scheduled visits, Mighty Green Lawn Care promises to send out a technician to diagnose the issue at no extra charge. The lawn care plan includes the following services.
Along with water, grass needs a number of nutrients to survive, most notably nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium. Mighty Green Lawn Care will take your lawn’s species of grass, soil quality, and climate into account to create the proper blend of fertilizer. Yards in Alabama typically feature warm season grasses like zoysia grass and Bermuda grass, which typically require fertilization in early or late summer.
Pre-emergent weed control involves killing unwanted seedlings before they have the chance to take root. Post-emergent weed control involves removing or otherwise eliminating adult plants. Mighty Green Lawn Care uses both weed control methods to ensure that your lawn looks its best. This includes unwanted, hard-to-kill grasses like crabgrass, dallisgrass, and nutsedge.
Tree and Shrub Plan
Mighty Green Lawn Care’s technicians also have the training and experience to care for the larger plants in your yard. With this plan, customers will receive up to six visits between early spring and late fall. Here is what the plan entails:
- Analysis of the health of your yard’s trees and shrubs
- Preventative treatment for disease and insects (4 visits)
- Application of fertilizer when needed (2 visits)
- Winter protection for trees and shrubs
Additional Services and Treatments
Clients of Mighty Green Lawn Care can also request the following treatments for an extra charge.
Over time, your lawn’s soil can become compacted, or so densely structured that it can’t properly hold the water and nutrients your grass needs. To fix this, your lawn should be aerated about once a year — in the late spring or early summer for warm season lawns. Mighty Green Lawn Care uses a core aeration machine to dig up small plugs of dirt and let them recombine with the soil beneath.
Kudzu is a particular problem in the southeast United States. This invasive vine can grow up to a foot a day under ideal conditions, meaning that it can completely overtake a yard in a matter of weeks. According to the Alabama Cooperative Extension System, a collaboration between Alabama A&M and Auburn University, it can take three to 10 years to eliminate a kudzu infestation completely. Mighty Green Lawn Care will go above and beyond typical weed control to help you eliminate bulk nuisance vegetation like kudzu.
Lawn Pest Control
Some pests actually damage your lawn, while others prevent you from enjoying your outdoor space. Mighty Green Lawn Care takes care of both types of lawn pests by devising a pest control plan best suited to your lawn’s size and vegetation. Here are the pests that Mighty Green Lawn Care can eliminate:
- Ants (including fire ants)
- Clover Mites
Brown patch, a disease caused by the fungus Rhizoctonia, is a particular problem in Alabama, and several other types of fungus can also infect a lawn in times of extreme temperature or moisture. Fungal infections don’t respond to typical herbicides, so Mighty Green Lawn Care offers fungicide treatments for infected grass.
Mighty Green Lawn Care Cost
As with most lawn care services, Mighty Green Lawn Care doesn’t publish prices on its website. Every lawn is unique in size and shape, so it’s hard to set a standard price for lawn care services. In Mighty Green Lawn Care’s case, the estimate for your lawn will be based on a free inspection, which you can schedule through the company’s website or by calling 205-290-1999. For many customers, the first lawn treatment will be free of charge.

Mighty Green Lawn Care Reviews
Mighty Green Lawn Care has been accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) since 2012, and it maintains an A+ rating. Unfortunately, the company’s only BBB customer review is negative. All BBB ratings are as of March 2020.
“I paid this company 80 dollars a treatment to spray my lawn and control the weeds. The tech spent less than 10 mins on the entire lawn and did not spray at all for weeds.”— Kevin K., 1 star, BBB, 6/25/18
Mighty Green Lawn Care does not have any reviews or ratings on Trustpilot. Because Mighty Green Lawn Care is a local company, it doesn’t have many customer reviews, making it hard for us to generalize from this small sample.
