A quick internet search shows plenty of succulent bouquet DIY tutorials. Learn how to create a succulent bouquet that adds a special touch to your happy day.

What is a Succulent Bouquet?

The whole affair starts with choosing the perfect plants. Since succulents usually have short stems, you will also need floral tape and wire to make fake stems to grasp. The beauty of a succulent bridal bouquet is the ability to save these succulents long after the big day. They are a precious memento of your nuptials and can thrive for years once separated from their fake stems and planted. Or you can pot them up as a thank you for your bridal party. Additionally, you can use other flowers and plants when making a succulent bouquet. A variety of blooms will add even more texture and life to your posy.

Tips on Succulent Bouquet DIY Projects

Select plants that will compliment your bridal decor. Succulents often have pastel tones which are complemented by soft greens and other pastel flowers. You can also opt for some dried stems to increase the diversity of the bouquet. Or you can keep the spray made up of only succulents. The choice is yours. Succulents like Aeonium and hens and chicks have natural rosette forms that look just like flowers. Succulents also do produce flowers, so depending on the time of year, you can source plants that also have blooms.

How to Create a Succulent Bouquet

Things you will need:

  • floral wire
  • floral tape
  • succulents and flowers if desired
  • ribbon

Remove the succulents from their containers and gently brush off the soil. Leave the roots intact so you can replant them later. To make stems, take a length of wire and thread it through the base of the succulent. Wrap the wire around itself to make a sturdy stem. If you have large succulents do this twice. Then wrap the top part where it joins the plant with floral tape to hold the whole affair together. Combine the stems in an appealing manner, adding flowers or other items to the bouquet. Top it all off with a complimentary ribbon. Your DIY succulent bouquet is ready for the big day.
