IKEA’s New Outdoor Collection Is a Gardener’s Dream Come True – Here’s What I’m Snapping Up for Myself

Your garden isn’t ready for spring? Neither is mine, but IKEA’s new outdoor pieces make it feel like it could be any day now.

I’ll be honest: my garden isn’t ready for spring yet. The soil’s still cold, the chairs are still stacked in the shed, and the barbecue is still pretending it’s in hibernation. But scrolling through IKEA’s new outdoor collection? That’s a different story. Suddenly, I’m imagining sunlit mornings, coffee in hand, and seedlings that aren’t just surviving, but thriving.

Other than how optimistic it's made me about my very muddy garden (thanks to my dog's endless running up and down this winter, it more closely resembles the Swamps of Sadness in The Neverending Story than it does its usual Secret Garden aesthetic), what I love about this range is how unfussy it is.

The VITLÖK flower boxes and plant pots are simple, sturdy, and sensible – the kind of things that make a patio look considered rather than like I just shoved a bunch of pots in a corner. And the KOLBJÖRN shelf unit is a brilliant way to ramp up outdoor storage without compromising on style.

Then there are the clever little touches, like the DOFTRIPS self-watering inserts, which just feel like IKEA quietly acknowledging even the very keenest gardeners forget things sometimes (guilty as charged). The plant starter set, too, is practical without being joyless, and the DAKSJUS vases add just enough color to brighten a table with ease.

Finally, there's no point denying it: I’ve already mentally claimed the NÄMMARÖ open kitchen unit. Light wood, sleek stainless steel, and enough shelf space to make outdoor entertaining feel like you actually know what you’re doing? Yes please, get it in my garden right this moment. It’s the sort of piece that makes you imagine slow dinners outside, dirt under your nails, and wine glasses that don’t get knocked over by an errant hose.

Bored of my endless gushing? I don't blame you; it's time to shop IKEA’s new outdoor collection for yourself. Here's my pick of those clever, cheerful pieces that’ll make you excited to step outside... even if the ground is still a) soggy, b) boggy, or c) buried under several feet of snow Enjoy....
