Can you tell your deadly nightshade from your dreamy love herbs? Throughout history, we've long assigned mysterious powers to the plants that grow around us – so, yes, you'd best believe we've created a quiz to celebrate all of those witchy plants!

Yes, it seems leaf identification will only get you so far on Halloween. After all, you can't check any old plant into a potion; some soothe the spirit, others summon danger, and a few even repel witches from your home (which might be helpful if you're hoping to dodge trick-or-treaters this year).

So, if you're the kind of person who keeps rosemary by your garden gate, plants lavender for luck, and (very occasionally) burns herbs to set the tone for the season ahead, it's time to take our quiz and find out whether you’re the wise green witch you've always believed... or one cauldron stir away from a poisonous mistake.

So, how did you get on? If you whizzed through this (and loved it), then you might like to try our plant identification quiz – and be sure to look out for more quizzes and puzzles coming very soon.

If you found it too difficult? Don't despair, just brush up on your plant know-how by visiting our helpful care guides for ornamental plants, edibles, and houseplants, and have another go. You'll be waxing black and white plant magic before you know it...
