Daisy Edgar-Jones recently starred in an Estée Lauder commercial that made me want to twirl around like a ballerina or throw on a feminine dress and walk the French Riviera. It was a masterclass in all things girly and romantic; everything was light pink, delicate, and impossibly pretty.

In the background of the video, sitting on a table, was a bouquet that made me immediately want to redo my entire makeup table. Is “makeup table” too generous a term for the corner of my dresser where I keep a mirror and some products? Probably, but I’m all about manifesting.
Want the same look? Keep reading below to learn how you can style your own vanity (or dresser, bathroom counter, etc.) with that same delicate feel.
Get the Look
Start with One Perfect Small Bouquet
While the flowers in the Estée Lauder commercial were quite substantial, a vanity requires a small floral arrangement; we’re talking 5-7 flowers max. It’s not meant to be a large floral installation or a major statement centerpiece in the middle of a large dining room table.
Choose flowers with a romantic energy, like garden roses in light pink and cream tones, lily of the valley, lisianthus, and freesia. For a more whimsical, airy-fairy vibe, go for baby’s breath, astilbe, and sweet peas. If you like a little fragrance, add in some hyacinth, peonies, and gardenias. Just skip anything that is too bright or structured. We’re channeling date night, not corporate lobby.
What you put the flowers in matters enormously for the look we’re going for. A small glass bud vase is perfect, or a vintage-style ceramic vase in white or blush pink. Make sure you keep it compact so it doesn’t dominate your limited space. This arrangement is more like a finishing touch, not the main event.
If you prefer the look of a few bud vases, these small glass ones from Amazon come in a variety of sizes and textures, which is exactly the look we want.

Layer in Delicate Accents
Once you have your bouquet arranged, you can add your complementary decorations that have the same soft, feminine energy without making it look like a cluttered house from the 90s. Adding extra elements is where many people go wrong, as they often add too much and suddenly their elegant vanity looks more like a gift shop display, and you have nowhere to actually set your makeup.
Choose 2 or 3 additional accents, and that’s the max number. Here are some ideas below:
- A small tray (marble, mirrored, or white ceramic) to keep your (vintage?) perfume bottles and jewelry
- One candle in a simple container (cream, blush, or clear glass). If you’re looking for a good candle, this Pink Lady and Peony Jar Candle from Target has a lovely lace look on the outside that just screams all things girly.
- A piece of delicate jewelry casually draped (a pearl necklace or thin gold chain adds some sparkle without looking bulky
Pro tip: Something that goes by the name “bath tray” can actually be used for jewelry. This Pink Quartz Resin Tray from Target is exactly the look we’re going for.
Master the Height Balance
Your vanity decor requires several variations in height to make it feel alive, though everything should stay relatively low since you still need to actually use it. Think of it as gentle hills rather than Mt. Everest.
Try this formula:
- Tallest element: Your floral arrangement (6-8 inches above the surface)
- Medium height: A candle or small decorative object (4-6 inches)
- Low elements: Your tray, scattered products (preferably your prettiest ones), or a small jewelry box
Add Texture Through Materials
Texture is everything when it comes to styling, especially when you’re going for such a light, girly energy. For this look, you really want to mix opposites that work together.
For example, a smooth glass vase with a matte ceramic tray. Add a velvet jewelry box next to metallic perfume bottles. Tie a linen or silk ribbon around your bouquet or drape it next to your mirror. Textural contrasts keep the styling from feeling flat or too one-dimensional.
Pro tip: Don’t go for anything too rough or rustic. This is certainly not the moment to pull out weathered wood or a chunky rope.
The Final Touch
You may be happy with your arrangement, but you can’t just decorate and leave it. Dead flowers kill the light, delicate energy faster than anything else. Change the water every few days, trim stems, and replace the flowers when they start looking sad.
The goal with this vanity is to make everything feel like a small luxury rather than a rushed obligation. Beauty is a ritual, and self-care is an art.
